Welcome packs
Build your welcome pack
Welcome and essential pack items are always needed for providing the initial gesture of kindness that we wish to extend to all those arriving in Scotland.
We've put together a wee essentials list to make building and donating both simple and impactful.
Details of where to drop off your donations can be found on our donations page.
Please note that whilst the list below is our 'essentials list' we are happy to receive slight variations. We check each pack before it goes out so can add anything that's missing or remove anything bonkers!
Contact enquiries@refuweegee.co.uk with any questions.
List of essentials
- A bag, whether a gift bag or a rucksack – something to put all of the items into.
- Toiletries – shampoo, shower gel, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant and sanitary or shaving items.
- Notepad and pen.
- Hat, gloves and scarf (2 of the 3 ideal).
- A wee token of Scotland or Glasgow – from tea towels to guide books, just think about what makes you think of home. Tunnocks? Irn Bru? Be creative!
- Something to read – varying reading abilities so all books acceptable. Please do consider the content though.
- Something to eat – this is very often also the token of Scotland! From highland toffees to porridge oats, it's always nice to include something to munch.
- Letter fae a local – your welcome letter to say hello, welcome and anything else you'd like to include. As long as it's kind then it's acceptable!
Welcome packs for children
We are also happy to receive welcome packs for children. These should follow the same essentials list above with age appropriate items and a small toy if appropriate.
Please ensure that the age of the child it is intended for is included on the outside of the pack. And please don't forget that we welcome teenagers as well as younger children.
